THE EXPERIENCE
You board at Chelsea Piers — right on the Hudson, steps from the West Side Highway. Your captain and first mate greet the group, give a quick safety brief, and you’re off. The city recedes behind you as you head toward the harbor. Lower Manhattan comes into view on your right, the Statue of Liberty ahead, the Verrazano in the distance. It’s a route you’ve never experienced from water level.
The heart of the charter is golden hour — roughly the 45 minutes before and after sunset, when the light is extraordinary and every photo looks like a painting. We time our departures to put you on the water for that window. You’ll have music, drinks, your group, and one of the best views in the world. No strangers, no tour commentary, no schedule but yours.
As the sun drops below the Jersey horizon, the city lights come up. The bridges light up, the towers glow, the harbor takes on a completely different character. The Hudson Star is a Cruisers Yachts 38 GLS — a mid-size luxury vessel with a full cabin, spacious deck, and seating for up to 18. She’s the most popular choice for sunset celebrations: bachelorettes, birthdays, anniversaries with a bigger crew. Comfortable enough to settle in, beautiful enough to feel special.
The Skyline is our flagship — a custom 2026 luxury event yacht with room for up to 30. If you want the full production: full bar setup, a photographer, catering, a speaker system, and space to move around and celebrate properly, this is it. The Skyline at golden hour over Lower Manhattan is a genuinely breathtaking thing to be on.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Timing is everything on a sunset charter — and we handle that for you. We schedule departures based on sunset time so you’re on the water for peak golden hour, not stuck boarding while the sky is already dark. Plan to arrive at Chelsea Piers 10–15 minutes before your departure to settle in and get your drinks sorted before we cast off. Dress for the water: evenings on the Hudson are almost always cooler than on shore, even in summer. A light layer goes a long way. Bring a good camera or make sure your phone is charged — you’ll want it. BYOB is fully welcome: champagne and rosé are the most popular choices, but bring whatever your group loves. If you want food on board, we can connect you with catering partners who deliver dockside before departure.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Departure times shift with the season to align with golden hour. In summer, we typically depart around 7:00–7:30 PM. In spring and fall, closer to 5:30–6:30 PM. We’ll confirm your exact departure window when you book and adjust if sunset times shift significantly before your date.
Most sunset charters run two to three hours — long enough to catch the full golden hour and the city lights coming up on the way back. We can extend to four hours for groups that want to linger on the water after dark. Just let us know when you book.
We monitor conditions closely and will reach out if your date looks questionable. Overcast skies don’t necessarily cancel a sunset charter — they can actually produce dramatic light. Rain and high winds are different. If we need to reschedule for safety, we work with you to find the next available date at no penalty.
Yes — BYOB is welcome on all vessels. Bring whatever your group loves: champagne, wine, cocktails, beer, charcuterie, whatever. We provide coolers and ice. If you’d rather not bring food, we can connect you with catering partners who deliver directly to the dock before departure.
Groups of 2 to 30, depending on the vessel. The Manhattan Mermaid fits up to 8, the Hudson Star up to 18, and the Skyline accommodates up to 30 guests. All are fully private — your group has the entire boat. We’ll help you choose the right vessel for your group size and vibe.
